Privacy Policy

Last updated: 27 October 2026

This policy explains what personal information Col & Crest collects through colandcrest.com, why we collect it, and what your rights are. Col & Crest is run by Ben Hamer in the United Kingdom. If you have any questions, email enquire@colandcrest.com.

What we collect

When you send a Plan With Us enquiry: your name, email address, the moment you're interested in, your dates, the number of people travelling, your rough budget and anything else you choose to tell us.

When you join the newsletter list: your email address.

When you browse the site: basic technical and usage information, such as your browser, device, approximate location (country or city), the pages you visit and how you arrived. This is collected by our website platform, Squarespace, using cookies and similar technologies (see "Cookies" below).

We don't ask for payment details. We don't knowingly collect information from anyone under 18.

How we use it

  • To reply to your enquiry and put together a trip plan you've asked for. Our lawful basis is taking steps at your request before entering into a contract.

  • To send you our newsletter, if you've signed up. Our lawful basis is your consent, and every email has an unsubscribe link.

  • To understand how the site is used and improve it. Our lawful basis is our legitimate interest in running a useful website.

We don't sell your information, and we don't use it for automated decision-making.

Who we share it with

  • Squarespace, which hosts this website, stores form submissions and newsletter sign-ups, and provides site analytics.

  • Our email provider, which delivers messages between us.

  • Travel suppliers (such as hotels, bike hire shops or transfer companies), but only the details needed, and only if you ask us to arrange or check something with them on your behalf.

Some of these providers process data outside the UK, including in the United States. Where that happens, they rely on recognised safeguards such as the UK International Data Transfer Addendum or the UK–US data bridge.

Affiliate links

Some links on this site may be affiliate links, which means we may earn a small commission if you book through them, at no extra cost to you. When you click one, the company you visit may set its own cookies to record the referral. Their own privacy policies apply on their sites.

Cookies

Cookies are small files stored on your device. We use:

  • Strictly necessary cookies that make the site work securely. These can't be switched off.

  • Analytics and performance cookies from Squarespace that tell us how visitors use the site. We only set these if you accept them in the cookie banner.

You can change your choice at any time using the cookie settings link at the bottom of the page, or by clearing cookies in your browser.

How long we keep it

We keep enquiries for up to two years after our last contact with you, unless you book a trip with our help, in which case we keep the records we need for up to six years. We keep newsletter sign-ups until you unsubscribe.

Your rights

Under UK data protection law you can ask to see the information we hold about you, and ask us to correct it, delete it, restrict or object to how we use it, or send it to you in a portable format. Where we rely on consent, you can withdraw it at any time. To make a request, email enquire@colandcrest.com; we'll reply within one month.

If you're unhappy with how we've handled your information, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk, though we'd appreciate the chance to put it right first.

Changes

We'll update this page if anything changes, and change the date at the top when we do.
